Katya Quel (Moskau, Russland) lebt und arbeitet als Künstlerin zwischen Berlin und Paris. Sie studierte Grafikdesign in Moskau und Freie Kunst an der Kunsthochschule Berlin Weissensee. Katya Quel Elizarova übersetzt die Ästhetik des Digitalen ins Analoge und greift zugleich die Flüchtigkeit der Konsumgesellschaft auf. Elizarova entwickelt Mixed-Media Rauminstallationen und Skulpturen, die gefundene und approprierte Objekte über ihren eigenen künstlerischen Ausdruck neu definieren. Ein Wesenszug ihrer Praxis kommt aus dem Graffiti, das sich in raumgreifenden Formen und Gesten wiederfindet. Dabei verbindet sie Elemente des schlechten Geschmacks mit der Symbolik fantastischer Welten.

Katya Quel (Moscow, Russia) lives and works as an artist between Berlin and Paris. She studied graphic design in Moscow and fine arts at the Berlin Weissensee Art Academy. Katya Quel Elizarova translates the aesthetics of the digital into the analog and at the same time picks up on the fleeting nature of consumer society. Elizarova develops mixed-media spatial installations and sculptures that redefine found and appropriated objects through their own artistic expression. One trait of her practice comes from graffiti, which is reflected in expansive forms and gestures. In doing so, she combines elements of bad taste with the symbolism of fantastic worlds.
